For garden room, modular home and lodge builders

Your customer changed the window again. Your drawings should keep up.

We build configurators around your product. Your customer picks the size, the doors and the cladding. Your own rules turn their choices into assembly drawings, cut lists and a bill of materials.

Who builds it

Digital by Design is part of by Design Group: architects and engineers who design buildings for factories.

01 / How it usually works

Every change goes back to a designer. Then it waits in the queue.

Your buildings are a product. You know the sizes, the panels and the options. But each order still gets drawn by hand, and each change a customer asks for goes round the loop again.

  1. Customer asks for a bigger windowday 1
  2. Sales passes on the note+ 1 to 2 days
  3. Designer redraws the set+ the queue
  4. Someone checks it and reprices+ 2 to 3 days
  5. The customer has moved onweeks later

Your designers are the bottleneck

Skilled people spend their week redrawing buildings they have drawn a hundred times. The work they should be doing waits behind it.

Customers don't wait

Someone ready to buy today wants to see their building today. A quote that takes weeks loses to the firm that answers first.

02 / What we do instead

Put the design rules in software. Let the customer choose.

We build a configurator for your range. It works on your website, in the showroom or on a sales call, and every option it offers is one your factory can make.

The usual way
  1. Customer emails a sketch
  2. Designer draws it from scratch
  3. Every change starts the loop again
With a configurator
  1. Customer picks size, doors, cladding and roof
  2. Your rules check every choice as they make it
  3. The frame, panels and openings update with it
  4. One button produces the drawings for the factory

Your designers still sign it off. They just stop redrawing the same building.

03 / Your rules

Write down how your building works. Once.

Every product has rules: module sizes, where a door can go, what happens to the studs when the roof pitches up. Your team knows them. We sit with them, write them down and build them into the software.

From then on a customer can only choose something you can build, and every option is priced the way you price it.

Example rule setGarden room range

Illustrative. Your rules and figures will be your own.

04 / What comes out

Press generate. The factory gets a full set.

The configurator builds a model of the building, not a picture of it. That model is what produces the drawings, so the drawings always match what the customer chose.

  1. Options

What the customer picked: size, layout, openings, finishes.

  2. Your rules

Checked as they choose. Anything you can't build is never offered.

  3. The model

Frame, panels, openings and roof, set out to your system.

  4. For the factory
    • Panel assembly drawings PDF / DWG
    • Cut lists by member
    • Bill of materials ready to price
    • 3D view for the customer web

Your building goes up in days. The design shouldn't take weeks.

05 / How we work

Start with a conversation. Build in stages you control.

Every product is different, so we don't sell a box. We start by looking at yours, and you decide at each stage whether to go on.

  1. 1

    Free assessment

A call about your range, how you draw and quote today, and where a configurator would save time.

    Free, 45 minutes
  2. 2

    Workshop

A day with your designers and your own drawings. We write down the rules and agree what the first version does.

    At your factory
  3. 3

    Build in stages

Each stage is priced and agreed before it starts. You see it working at the end of every one.

    No open-ended spend
  4. 4

    Live with your team

Your sales team and customers use it. Your designers check and release. We keep it current as your range changes.

    Yours to run
